Grant Stroke Program Earns Gold Standard Designation
for Quality of Acute Care, Patient Education.

Grant learned earlier this month that it had received the American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Performance Achievement Award in recognition of Grant’s long-term compliance with rigorous national standards. The honor “reassures our patients that they are receiving the highest quality of care in the nation,” said William Carroll, MD, medical director of Neurology. “Not many hospitals reach this level.”

Grant is always equipped to provide brain imaging scans, has neurologists on call around the clock to evaluate patients and aggressively uses clot-busting medications, such as tPA when appropriate. To qualify as one of the association’s gold standard hospitals, Grant demonstrated adherence to several measures, including the aggressive use of medications that dissolve blood clots or prevent them from forming. Grant also placed a CT scanner next to the Emergency Department and developed protocols to ensure a quick stroke response.

The American Stroke Association commendation accents Grant’s accreditation earlier this year as a primary stroke center by The Joint Commission.

New Website Features
Go to the Message Boards and visit what will become the hub for discussing EMS, Fire-Rescue and Nursing in Central Ohio! It's like an electronic version of a bulletin board at the local grocery store. Users post messages and announcements for others to see and respond to.

To post a message, ask questions or to offer your thoughts on any of the topics, just start a new discussion thread or
join in on a discussion thread that's already started.

Let us help you spread the word about your department's upcoming events, classes, fundraisers and more! Go to the public calendar section and add the event for all to see. There's also a section for your free classifieds. Whether you're a firefighter who does home remodeling or a nurse with a stereo for sale, post it in our free classifieds section. Spread the word and help us grow. The more registered members we have, the more of a resource the message boards become.

Take a look at our site's newly expanded Internet Links, Shift Calendars, Forms, Files, Downloads and other areas by selecting the link buttons on the left. You'll want to check back often since we're always updating and expanding.
